The link between human activity and global warming continues to grow stronger.

The evidence that human activity plays a role in the causes of climate change is growing. Recent global warming reports on global climate change show a link between greenhouse gas emissions and the changing climate.

Global Warming Report Reveals Climate Change Links to Greenhouse Gas Emissions

One global warming report released by the online journal Science revealed that Arctic warming is linked to greenhouse gas emissions. The study revealed over the last decade average temperatures in the Arctic are higher than they have been at any other time in history.

Another global warming report by the World Wildlife Fund revealed that changes made by humans can impact the Arctic as well as climate conditions across the globe. The World Wildlife Fund report outlined how current warming trends are likely to impact global weather patterns. This recent information is consistent with other studies highlighting global warming issues.

The NOAA Paleoclimatology Program also notes that the climate is changing. In their 2000 global warming report, “A Paleo Perspective on Global Warming” it is noted that the last decade of the 20th Century was the warmest of the entire temperature record dating back to the mid-19th century.

Reduce Global Warming By Minimizing Greenhouse Gas Emissions

According to the Energy Information Administration, the majority of greenhouse gas emissions come from the fossil fuels used to make energy. A key way for individuals to reduce global warming is to reduce energy consumption since fossil fuels are a primary source of greenhouse gas emissions.

Simple ways to reduce energy use are to shut off lights when not in use, unplug appliances that may draw phantom loads of electricity, utilize natural light when possible and use energy-efficient appliances. For entertainment, shut off the television and computer and read a good book instead.

Individuals can also reduce global warming impact by driving less and setting their thermostat higher in the summer and lower in the winter months. Use thick, room darkening curtains to keep the heat of the summer sun out and close them tight in the winter to help keep the cold winter drafts from sneaking into the home. Seal any cracks around doors and windows will also help keep drafts to a minimum and reduce an individual’s energy consumption and global warming impact.

Individuals can play a part in helping to reduce global warming. By reducing energy consumption, driving less and buying energy-efficient appliances, individuals can help reduce their climate change impact and minimize global warming issues.
